Skin Cleansers

We tend to forget that the skin is the largest organ of the human body and often take it for granted. Just like any other organ in the body, the skin needs to be hydrated and nourished with not only high quality nutrient rich products but also healthy foods and lots of water. The skin accumulates impurities throughout the day so even if you don’t wear makeup it is important to cleanse your skin before bedtime.

How do I cleanse my skin? – this may seem like a silly question but there are so many different products to choose from and different ways to cleanse your skin.

Makeup Removal Cloth

Take your makeup off with ease using a Microfibre Makeup Remover Pad, they are reusable and are non-toxic. All you need to do is add warm water! These pads are gentle on the face, small and compact, and perfect for travel. Use a milk cleanser for the 2nd step in cleansing, to deep cleanse any impurities that aren’t removed with the cleansing cloth.

Soap

Conventional soaps are not recommended for cleansing the skin as it will strip your natural oils and disrupt the pH of your skin and damage the skin barrier, which can cause dryness and irritation. If you love using soap look for a cleansing bar that is gentle on your skin.

Cleansing wipes

Makeup wipes are popular and easy to use but are full of harsh and harmful chemicals that disrupt the pH balance of your skin and its acid mantle. Also not environmentally friendly. There are some high quality professional makeup wipes that are biodegradable, so look out for these if you prefer the ease of wipes.

Micellar Water

Micellar water from Professional skin care companies that truly care about skin health are good to use, as they often do not contain the fragrances and preservatives that strip the skin of its oils, dehydrate and sensitise the skin. If you remove makeup with Micellar water make sure you follow with a milk cleanser to deep cleanse your skin.

Gel Cleanser/ Foaming Face Wash

These feel very refreshing on your skin but are only surface cleansers as they are water based. Look for a high quality natural products and follow with a milk cleanser for a deeper cleanse.

Milk Cleanser

A gentle-yet-effective, sulphate-free cleanser formulated with a blend of natural\ ingredients to wash away dirt, impurities, and makeup without stripping skin is recommended for daily use. A milk cleanser is oil based so has the ability to be deep cleansing and very hydrating

Oil Cleanser

Cleansing your skin at night with an oil cleanser to remove makeup and impurities is one of the best things you can do for your skin. Suitable for all skin types a high quality cleansing oil with nutrient rich ingredients can help balance the skin and lock in hydration.

AHA Cleanser

A gentle Alpha Hydroxy cleanser is a great alternative to an exfoliating cleanser. These are becoming very popular for your 2nd cleanse or morning cleanse as they slough away dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling very smooth and refined. This is an enzymatic exfoliant rather than a physical exfoliant which can be very harsh on your skin.

Double cleansing is a more effective way of removing makeup, in which you first cleanse your skin with an oil based cleanser, and then a milk cleanser. This will dissolve all the makeup particles and cleans out the impurities from your pores without disturbing the pH balance of your skin.
